Frequently asked questions
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy may be characterised as a guided meditation that uses positive suggestions to make sub-conscious changes to your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Hypnosis is a natural state of mind and you go into a type of hypnosis repeatedly everyday on your own, whenever you daydream, read a book, drive a familiar route, or watch a film.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes. But it is in your own interests to just relax and let it happen; if you resist it just makes things a little more difficult.
Is it safe?
Yes. You are never out of control and may bring yourself out of hypnosis at any time.
Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No. My extensive training provides me with all the necessary techniques to ensure you return to your normal, conscious self before leaving me.
Will you control my mind?
No. In fact, your own mind is in total control. I may direct our subconscious thoughts to the areas that need attention, but it is you own mind that effectively fixes itself. I am just your ‘tour guide’ to the process.
Will you get me to do silly things?
No! I do not do ‘stage hypnosis’. I cannot make you do anything that you do not want to do.
What will happen in my hypnotherapy session?
You will relax on my comfy sofa and I will ask you to listen to my voice. I will then take you into deep relaxation and bring your unconscious mind to focus upon the problems that your conscious mind struggles to address.
How many sessions will I need?
Each client has a unique treatment plan developed with them in mind. Smoking cessation, for example, can usually be resolved in one, maybe two sessions. Other issues will vary according to person and or treatment required/agreed.
What will it cost?
Nominally each session will last between 1-2 hours, and will cost £60 per session, with possible discounts for discussed and agreed multi-sessions. Smoking for example will cost £150… a fraction of the cost of smoking!
What is EFT?
Emotional freedom Technique is a form of acupuncture without the needles! Sometimes called ‘tapping’, this is done whilst in your normal, conscious state and involves teaching you a very simple procedure to enable you to control unwanted emotions such as pain, stress… and many others.
What is Regression?
Often people’s present day issues stem from past events, either remembered or forgot by you the client. Regression takes you back to that particular issue/issues and assists you to resolve them. It is possible, where agreed, to take some clients back to a ‘past life’ that their subconscious mind believes that they have been. Issues are then subsequently resolved.
What is the treatment process?
All treatments begin with an email, text or phone call from a potential client (fully confidential). Following personal discussions a free, confidential consultation is agreed and booked, usually lasting 30-60 minutes. These consultations take place at my clinic in Scunthorpe, where issues are discussed and questions from
each of us resolved. A treatment plan is agreed with the number of sessions, costs and then payment terms are discussed and agreed. The first session is then booked.
